T-minus 25 days...and counting

It's getting closer to D-Day (departure day)! Where did all the time go?
Update on Jordan preparations: Vaccinations *shudder*
I'm convinced that whoever came up with the concept of a 'shot' deserves to rot in a not nice place. I have this thing about needles.....I DON'T LIKE THEM!!!! Getting a flu shot is an ordeal (my mother has some blackmail stories on me about them) and blood draws are just plain torture (hence why I have never donated blood and odds are that I never will, I would probably pass out before they got any blood out of me).
Anyway, there were some vaccinations that it was advised to have done before I left for Jordan, so I went (with my mother) to the county Health Department a couple times. First, I got the DTAP ( I don't even know what that stands for). The shot was in my left arm. It was fast, and not as painful as I thought. Well, the next day, surprise! My arm was sore and felt bruised.
About 3 weeks later, I had to go talk with a travel specialist at the Health Department. She went over all the vaccinations I would need, what I should get a booster shot of, and pretty much anything that would be bad for my health. I got a nice stack of handouts to read, which wasn't so bad....just that there were a lot of them and they were really boring. Then the lady asked if we wanted to do the vaccinations right then. Mentally I was thinking, 'Uhhh, heck no!'. However, my mother, being the voice of reason, said that we would, so we could just get it over with all at once. I was thinking 'Easy for you to say, you're not the one getting poked and prodded'. I ended up getting 3 vaccinations. The Hep-A and Chicken Pox booster were easily the worst. They were shots that hurt like none other, both in my left arm, and put said arm out of commission for the next 2-3 days. The typhoid vaccination, ah yes, that was so much nicer....it was an oral vaccination! All I had to do was a take a little pill every other day for a week. It was much more to my liking, and I got a free wristband that says 'Remember Oral Typhoid Vaccine'.
When we left my mother made the comment, "You know Chels, getting those shots shows just how serious you are about this."
You know, she's right. There is no way I would put myself through that, unless it was for something important to me.
